Read ‘I Don’t Lie,’ a poem that speaks on the importance of truth and the emotional journey of staying true to oneself.
You have heard me saying this many times that ‘I DON’T LIE’.
But I did.
Yes, I lied.
I lied when I said I really don’t care about who left me alone,
But inside I knew that I still do.
I lied to me when I said everything will be fine soon,
knowing that nothing could make me any better now.
I lied to me when I said I’ll forget my first love,
Hiding that piece of letter that I wrote to him, inside my diary.
I lied when I said I forget everything he had done to me,
Maybe just to avoid any further questions.
I lied when I cried for hours and I said I’m fine,
I don’t know why?
I lied to my parents for going out with you that day,
Knowing that I would punish myself for it later.
I lied to you when I said it doesn’t make me feel jealous when you talk to your best friend,
But I wished that you would tell me, ‘No one else is more important than you’.
I lied to my mother
when I told her that I don’t miss her much and I’m happy here with my friends,
just to make her believe that I’m really happy.
I lied to everyone around me to whom I smiled even when my heart was shattering into small pieces like anything.
